New OCR language support expands international capabilities

DocuWare IDP continues to expand its OCR language coverage: Portuguese, Croatian, Slovenian, Finnish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian are now supported. This extends automated document processing to additional markets and use cases.

Previously, the platform already supported German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Dutch. The newly added languages complement this existing set and help close gaps, particularly in Northern and Eastern Europe as well as Portuguese-speaking regions.

The new OCR is automatically applied to all newly created custom processes. The pre-built OCR workflow also uses the updated model by default. Additionally, all pre-annotations are now created using the new OCR, which simplifies the annotation process.

Existing custom processes remain unchanged for now. If a custom process should use the new OCR, a manual update is required. This can be handled through DocuWare Professional Services.

In day-to-day operations, this update mainly increases flexibility without adding complexity. Documents such as invoices, delivery notes, or forms can be processed regardless of language, without the need for separate IDP workflows. This reduces manual effort and simplifies the handling of international document streams.

Especially in centralized setups where documents from multiple countries are processed in one place, a unified approach helps reduce operational complexity and ensures more consistent results.

With expanded language support and clear integration into new processes, DocuWare IDP strengthens the foundation for scalable, international document processing — without requiring additional setup effort.
