German Invoice Model (Beta) now available in the EU

Since February 18, 2026, DocuWare IDP has expanded its portfolio with a new prebuilt process:  the German Invoice Model (Beta). This provides a ready-to-use model for automated extraction of German invoices – immediately operational, without training from scratch.

Delivers value fast, no need for setup

Speed is key when processing German incoming invoices. Different layouts, individual field names, and complex line item data often make projects time-consuming – especially if models need to be trained from scratch.

With the German Invoice Model, this initial training effort is eliminated. Companies can start immediately: upload documents, process them, and use the structured data right away. The model is particularly valuable for teams that want to:

  • quickly test how automated invoice processing works
  • go live fast without training a model from scratch
  • test or expand existing automation processes

Invoice numbers, invoice dates, amounts, supplier information, and other key data are extracted automatically and immediately available for downstream systems.

Flexible – Use the standard setup or customize

The model can be used right away as a prebuilt process. However, it also allows users to create a custom or inherited process, where fields can be added or removed as needed. For any new fields, you will need to upload and annotate documents and wait for training.

If additional data is required, documents can be annotated and the model retrained accordingly. This makes the German Invoice Model suitable for both quick standard scenarios and individual requirements with extended field sets.

Annotation and training – reliable and consistent

The beta model also includes important enhancements for annotation and process training:

  • Checkbox validation: Duplicate assignments for “Single Checkbox” fields are now correctly detected and trigger a warning, ensuring consistent data entry.
  • Training button activation for new data: Newly annotated or reviewed data is reliably recognized, and the training button is automatically enabled when retraining is required — even if no new documents have been uploaded.

This ensures that annotation and training processes work smoothly and companies can start working productively with the beta model right away.

Beta status and availability

The German Invoice Model is a beta version. This means the schema may still change – field names and structures can be adjusted based on feedback. The final schema and any migration guidance will be communicated in due course.

Important: This release is only available in the EU zone. The German Invoice Model is not currently accessible in the US zone.

Improve your processes with the Beta model

The new German Invoice Model (Beta) expands the Intelligent Document Processing capabilities of DocuWare IDP.

It provides a fast, practical way to get started with automated processing of German invoices – with the flexibility to evolve alongside your requirements.
