Important notice reminder
With DocuWare version 7.11 the new oAuth2 authentication is in effect.
All DocuWare Desktop applications are affected by this security update, as indicated in the technical release notes. Technical release notes - 09/2024 - DocuWare 7.11
To ensure a smooth transition to the new DocuWare version, please evaluate whether you have customers running processes that depend on the operation of Desktop Apps.
If “yes,” please consider the following:
- Before the update, stop automatic processes such as Autoindex, Workflows, DocuWare Import etc., until the Desktop App update is completed!
- Perform the upgrade to the new DocuWare version (on-premises)
- With DocuWare Cloud, wait for the upgrade to complete during the nightly scheduled timeframe (starts in the evening at 8:00 p.m.)
- On all machines running DocuWare Desktop applications, perform the update and authenticate with the new oAuth2 mechanism
- Once completed, activate your automatic processes again
By following these steps, you’ll avoid the need for manual interventions to fix failed automatic processes. The switch to oAuth2 will have a significant impact on DocuWare Cloud processes that rely on DocuWare Desktop Apps, including Local Data Connector, and will definitely require an update.

Third-party applications
We also want to take this opportunity to remind you about the effect on third-party applications using the DocuWare SDK. Here’s a good overview from a blog post earlier this year: https://start.docuware.com/blog/docuware-partners/docuware-sdk-discontinuation-of-cookie-authentication
Applications not yet migrated to the new oAuth2 authentication will no longer be operational!
