GenAI extraction is now available in DocuWare IDP to all US customers as of May 27, 2026, expanding document extraction capabilities with a new AI-powered approach.
GenAI extraction expands the extraction capabilities of DocuWare IDP with an additional AI-powered approach. While classic extraction breaks documents down into OCR boxes, classifies those boxes, and then combines the results into fields, GenAI extraction leverages the full document context and field descriptions to generate structured results directly. Both approaches are available and can be selected based on the specific requirements of any given use case.
GenAI extraction introduces several new benefits, including:
- No initial training required: Models can be created using existing document data, eliminating manual training and simplifying setup.
- Validated data for future training: Validated and corrected data can be used in future training cycles to further improve model performance over time.
- Efficient, iterative workflow: Fields can be defined, results tested instantly, and prompts refined step by step. This accelerates automation projects and minimizes the effort needed to build and maintain extraction models.
GenAI Extraction supports an iterative approach in which fields can be defined, baseline results tested immediately and prompts refined step by step. This helps organizations progress quickly with new automation projects while reducing the effort required to build and maintain extraction models.
By shifting the focus from intermediate processing steps to the quality of the final output, GenAI Extraction lays the foundation for more adaptive extraction solutions that can continuously evolve based on real-world usage and feedback.
