The legacy DocuWare Desktop App “User Synchronization” will be officially deprecated and removed from the DocuWare product offering with the release of DocuWare version 7.16, planned for spring 2027. It will be succeeded by User Provisioning, a significantly more advanced solution built on the modern industry standard.
While both tools, User Synchronization Desktop App and User Provisioning, have coexisted since DocuWare version 7.12, the User Synchronization Desktop App is scheduled now for End-of-Life to eliminate legacy technical debt and dual-maintenance overhead. It will be succeeded by User Provisioning, a significantly more advanced solution built on the modern, industry-standard SCIM 2.0 protocol (System for Cross-domain Identity Management). It’s part of the DocuWare Configuration.
The modern User Provisioning architecture introduces high-performance infrastructure optimizations: it features delta synchronization (processing only modified records), parallel processing via 5 concurrent HTTP requests, multi-directory execution per run, native OpenLDAP support, and a persistent sync history.
Customers actively using the User Synchronization Desktop App must plan and execute their migration to User Provisioning ahead of the April 2027 release to ensure uninterrupted, scalable, and fully supported user synchronization capabilities.
