Clickable hyperlinks in index fields
The latest version of DocuWare makes URLs used as index terms clickable. That’s ideal, for example, for opening the corresponding journal entry in your accounting system directly from an invoice stored in DocuWare.

Potential applications
Take advantage of this new feature to seamlessly integrate DocuWare with third-party applications. Here are two examples:
Accounting: In your invoice file cabinet, save a link to the corresponding journal entry in your accounting software for each invoice. This way, if questions about an invoice come up later, you can open the relevant journal entry directly with a single click and check the booking status.
Marketing: In your marketing materials file cabinet, create database entries for videos with a link to the video as an index term. By clicking the link, the video can be played from its hosting platform, such as YouTube or Vimeo.
How to enable the feature
For security reasons, the required external domains must first be authorized. To do this, you or your administrator must add them to the whitelist for external URL addresses. This is part of the Security component and is available to all organization administrators as of version 7.12 via the DocuWare configuration.
Click "Enable external URL addresses" to enable external connections for this new feature.
Important tips for users
- For links in DocuWare, use a text field that isn’t designated for document names.
- Always enter the URLs in full, including "https://", so that they will be recognized correctly and function as a link.
