The new Workflow Designer: Web-based instead of Desktop App
DocuWare's new Workflow Designer aims to simplify the workflow definition for administrators and power users. Thanks to the completely revised user interface, defining even the most complex workflows is easy and intuitive. As it is now a web-based configuration tool, it is included as a component in the DocuWare Configuration. The requirement for installation and regular updates of the Workflow Designer Desktop App will soon be a thing of the past.
The user interface
The Workflow Designer dashboard gives an overview of all workflows within your organization related to the different file cabinets.
This is the canvas of the new workflow designer where you can easily define your processes. Use the "Feedback" menu item to share your opinion and suggestions.
The BETA phase
The web-based Workflow Designer is now open for beta to all DocuWare Cloud customers with DocuWare version 7.12. All users who have been granted the functional right "Design workflows" will be able to access and use it via the DocuWare Configuration.
From a functional state, the application is completed. It's important to note that you can still only create and run new workflows in the web-based Workflow Designer. Migration of workflows from Workflow Designer Desktop App is not yet supported.
Your feedback is appreciated!
Please use the new Workflow Designer actively and share feedback via the integrated form (menu > feedback) to support final preparations ahead of the public release.
Next steps
DocuWare plans to release the web-based Workflow Designer for DocuWare Cloud in this autumn 2025, for on-premises systems in 2026. With the official release, it will also include migration support for workflows designed in the former Workflow Designer Desktop App.
