DocuWare Demonstrates Cloud Leadership in 2016 Report

Germering, March 20, 2017 – In 2016, DocuWare grew its total revenue and substantially expanded its cloud business to nearly 20,000 users across more than 550 companies.

Building on its success of the last several years, DocuWare generated over 37.14 million euro in revenue. Overall, a total of 1,234 companies selected DocuWare in 2016, the sixth consecutive year gaining 1,000 or more new customers.

Europe witnessed particularly strong gains of 18.1 percent. As the second largest market behind the Americas, Germany increased its revenue by 16.2 percent. Those areas grouped as "Rest of World" also grew by 12.3 percent. The most successful sales subsidiary in 2016 was DocuWare SARL in France, with revenue growth of 47.2 percent, followed by the Spanish subsidiary DocuWare S.L., which increased 31.9 percent. Valued in Britsh pounds, revenues in the United Kingdom were up by 12,7 percent.

The company’s worldwide revenue growth of 7.5 percent did not meet expectations due to unique conditions in the Americas where partners selling Westbrook’s Fortis software were delayed in moving to selling DocuWare.

Overall project revenue by the company’s Authorized DocuWare Partners (ADPs) was approximately 170 million euro.

The Future Belongs to the Cloud

DocuWare is a recognized leader in document management and digital workflow automation, and will build upon 2016‘s unprecedented growth in its cloud offering.

According to KPMG and Bitkom Research, which recently published "Cloud Monitor 2017," two out of three companies in Germany last year used cloud solutions. DocuWare recognized this trend ahead of its competitors and developed solutions for this new consumption model.

The cloud strategy has paid dividends. 26 percent of new customers in 2016 selected cloud solutions. The number of cloud customers grew by 131 percent in 2016. By the end of the year, nearly 20,000 users at 555 companies were working in DocuWare Cloud. The number of documents archived in the cloud has almost tripled year over year, totaling just under 14 million. Customers trust DocuWare to ensure the security of their information and the scalability of their business.
