Fortis Customers Can Automatically Switch to DocuWare

Migration without Interruption

Germering, June 7, 2016 – DocuWare successfully completed the integration of Westbrook Technologies in 2015, including its sales channels and complete Fortis product line. With the new tool DocuWare Migration Helper, Fortis users can now transfer their document collections onto the future-equipped DocuWare platform in just a few mouseclicks – no matter if they are migrating to DocuWare Cloud or an On-Premise installation.

DocuWare solutions gained some key Fortis features after the company acquired Westbrook Technologies, the U.S. provider of ECM software Fortis. At the same time, migration tools were developed to transfer Fortis data into DocuWare systems. With DocuWare Migration Helper, Fortis-users can now quickly transfer their document holdings onto the future-proof DocuWare platform – either into DocuWare Cloud or an On-Premise installation.

Nearly the entire Research & Development department of DocuWare’s former U.S. competitor is now working in independent Scrum teams, developing vital components for DocuWare solutions. Software Support and Professional Services teams were merged and a completely new unit dedicated to Customer Success was formed. These measures helped DocuWare offer its customers a wider range of services and retain Fortis customers: the extension rates of maintenance and support contracts remains at a high level, comparable with the annual average at DocuWare. The majority of Westbrook sales partners also became qualified as Authorized DocuWare Partners.

President Jürgen Biffar views the use of future-oriented technologies as the foundation for the easy migration of Fortis solutions: "Thanks to the modern architecture of our ECM system, we were able to develop tools within a short time that make it simple to migrate from a Fortis system to DocuWare. By bringing the systems together, it also created additional opportunities for further developing the product family within a new, modern technology platform."

The DocuWare Group acquired the U.S.-based ECM provider Westbrook Technologies Inc. on September 1, 2013, thereby expanding its customer base and partner network. By January 1, 2015, it was officially transitioned from a subsidiary and merged into DocuWare Corporation. Throughout 2015, the company’s sales channels as well as its Fortis product line were also successfully integrated
