Fortis 2.5 Service Pack 6 added enhancements to Fortis Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). Learn more about how these enhancements can speed up the user authenticiation process. If you're not running the current version of Fortis (2.8), this one more reason to upgrade.
Fortis LDAP can search child domains. Also, the system administrator can specify which options to use when binding to the LDAP server, providing login performance improvements by reducing the number of calls to LDAP thereby speeding up the authentication process.
If you’re using Fortis LDAP to provide your users single sign-on functionality, these can be very useful enhancements. If your Fortis system isn't current, be prepared. There are specific steps that must be performed in order to retain your LDAP functionality. Failure to follow these LDAP-specific procedures can lead to the inability to access Fortis.
Check out the LDAP Guide that was included with SP6. Be sure to carefully read and follow all instructions in this Guide to ensure a successful installation if Fortis LDAP is in use. Your Domain Administrator needs to be a part of these LDAP procedures to provide your current LDAP binding settings, as well as the correct user format for binding. The available binding options are defined in the appendix of the LDAP Guide.
We want you to be successful in all your Fortis tasks, so if you have questions or would like a copy of the LDAP Guide contact email@example.com for assistance.
